Fraction Simplifier

Simplify fractions to their lowest terms. Find the greatest common divisor (GCD) — all in your browser, instant results.

About the Fraction Simplifier

This fraction simplifier runs entirely in your browser. Enter a numerator and denominator to reduce the fraction to its lowest terms. The tool also computes the GCD, the decimal equivalent, and the mixed-number form when the fraction is improper.

How it works

The calculator finds the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator using the Euclidean algorithm, then divides both by that GCD. The result is the fraction in its simplest form.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool upload my data? No. All calculations happen locally in your browser.

Can I enter decimals? Yes. Decimals are converted to fractions internally (for example, 1.5 becomes 3/2) before simplification.

What happens with a denominator of zero? Division by zero is undefined. The tool will show an error.

How are negative fractions handled? The sign is moved to the numerator, so the simplified form is consistent.
